Thank you for managing to make me smile as I sit, sleep deprived, with my 3 month old and my two year old, all of us awake, at an ungodly hour on a Sunday morning 😂
Definitely relatable. The bath scene is an exact description of what happened at our house with my 4.5 year old last night… every night. Also the hunt for lost stuffies… and reading multiple books… and older child forgotten… 🤣😭
Mine currently is in a phase where he needs to bring down EVERY stuffie in the morning because he doesn’t want them to be alone and then I have to bring them all up at night because he’s too tired and it’s a whole thing and I hate it. 🫠
I’m glad to know it rings true for others and I’m not all alone out here! I once had someone (who has very easygoing kids) suggest to me to “just hire a babysitter” when I couldn’t go to a dinner party and so many years later, I’m still bitter about it 🤪.
I hate that advice. We have one babysitter who knows are kids really well because she was our nanny for a year but she works a full time job and has a life, so she can't babysit for us often. And then sometimes my in laws who live 4 hours away can take care of our kids. People really have a hard time grasping that you can no longer call up the teen next door. I have 4 kids and so that alone is a lot and then I have neurodivergent kids, so that has it's own challenges.
The gamifying everything really bothers me because it just makes more work for the parent. Every time I watch a parenting video or listen to a podcast where an expert says, “Try making it fun!” I want to scream.
I know - I’m totally with you. But the alternative for me at least is just getting frustrated at my kid when she doesn’t listen to a single instruction so I guess “make it fun” is also advice for me to make it through the day 🤣
OMG yes. And the version of it with older kids - on a busy weekday morning saying "my sneakers don't fit" or "I need a purple folder" - Seriously? You didn't think to bring this up ONCE during the many weekend hours you fussed around the house saying you had nothing to do b/c I wouldn't let you use the ipad???? You couldn't have thought - the only shoes I have to wear don't fit. Maybe I should do something about that or at least bring it up in conversation.
OMG, my daughter last night - "what's the longest worm in the entire world? where did the matter for the big bang come from?".... darling my brain doesn't know these answers even in the middle of the day, let alone now!

You’re welcome and I’m sorry! That is such a hard stage. ❤️❤️
I could not stop laughing, so relatable!
I'm so glad!
My favorite read all week. SO TRUE!
Aw thank you so much! 😊
Hahah oh so relatable! But also thinking back to the times I would babysit as a teenager and put multiple children to bed, idk how I did it 😝
Me too! I babysat a lot. I don’t recall ever dealing with particularly challenging bedtime rituals though. Or maybe I just blocked it out. 😂
spot on!! lol
One of my favs yet!!! Love love love😂😂😂
😂 Wanna babysit???

Gotta laugh or else I'll cry, this is so us.
I do both things very often! 😂 😭
Me too. Solidarity hugs!!!
Hilarious and so true.

This is so hilarious and spot on. Glad I’m not the only one backwards bunny-hopping to the bathroom for teeth brushing time!
Also, WHY does basic hygiene need to be gamified 😫 the teeth brushing and hand washing refusal is really getting to me haha

The Question Period - so true!!!
I love that he’s so curious but also, WHY can’t you ask me these things during the many hours we’re together before 9PM?!
