I read the book Getting Things Done (teen edition) and started to use a Kanban board (I use Trello, it's free) to dump these thoughts on to a to-do list and it frees my mind to not have to store "all the things." It has been a really big help.
I really have to get better at dumping the things out of my brain. Every once in awhile I find a strategy that seems to work but I quickly abandon it and go back to trying to remember everything by memory...which of course is a terrible idea. Thanks for this suggestion!
