To all the working parents with little kids—I see you.
My kids have been home sick off and on (mostly on) for months and I have feelings about it.
To all the working parents with little kids—I see you.
I see you struggling to balance it all, when doing so is literally impossible.
I see you trying to work while your kids are home from school or daycare with their 47th virus this year.
I see you wiping their noses and lunging for the barf bucket while you attempt to answer emails.
I see you trying to get ahead in your career, or trying to grow your business, but you can't because your kid needs another diaper change, another snack (no, not that snack, a different one), another cuddle, another toy, another everything.
I see you sitting in a dark room, trying to type silently with one hand, as your toddler naps next to you while you rub his back with your other hand.
I see you reluctantly asking for another extension or another day off, and worrying about what your boss/colleagues/clients think of you.
I see you sitting on a Zoom call, wondering if it's appropriate to turn your camera off because you haven't showered in days and you have Kleenex shoved up your nose because you've caught whatever nasty thing your kid brought home from daycare—again.
I see you lying awake at night, when you finally have a moment of quiet, your thoughts spiralling with everything you need to get done, when you should be sleeping.
I see you doing your best to look like you have your act together, when in reality, you're about one more episode of Blippi away from a nervous breakdown.
I see you and I'm here with you. ✊
🔔 P.S. I originally posted this on my LinkedIn since it’s work-related but it also felt TYFS-related, so I’m repurposing it. (And yes, I just referred to my newsletter by acronym as if it’s a household name, because why not.)

I think a lot of us can relate to this: “I want to ‘just be, man,’ and won’t let concerns like success or climbing the corporate ladder stand in my way. The new dream is simply no goals, just vibes.”
