Happy new year, friends!
Sorry I’m late to the party. I contracted whatever hell virus has been floating around and spent New Year’s eve and day in bed (which is actually my dream way to spend new year’s, but the fever and body aches spoiled the fun).
I’m mostly recovered now, and I’ve been reading lots of new year-themed articles filled with inspiring goals and motivational wisdom. I feel like I should join in, but I’m not exactly a lifestyle expert. I’m not sure anyone should be taking advice from me since I consider it a win if I make it out the front door with my kids each morning without everyone crying.
I do like the idea of a more/less list, however, for its simplicity and low stakes. I see this as more aspirational or hopeful, rather than defined objectives I must achieve in the next 365 361 days. So here is what I want more and less of for myself in 2025.
Writing
Movement
Focus
Calm
Salad
Money
Sleep
Water
Gratitude
Mindfulness
Self-compassion
Less…
Comparison
Yelling
Catastrophizing
Procrastination
Clutter
Overwhelm
Self-doubt
Sugar
Scrolling
Task-switching
Viruses
What do you think? I feel pretty good about my list. I wish I had the time or energy to write it out in pretty handwriting or make it into a cute graphic, but I’m trying to employ a “done is better than perfect” mentality, since I tend to waste a lot of time caught up in the details. I guess that’s another good one for the list: more doing, less thinking. Maybe I am a self-help guru after all.

Sorry to hear about the virus! With you on the dream of a restful New Year's (without the body aches). Like the simplicity of this list so very much.
